I have a background in Human Resources, specifically recruitment, coaching and training within the voluntary sector, and I hold membership of the CIPD, Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, through study and experience.
Three years ago I rediscovered NLP – 'Neuro Linguistic Programming' in the process of looking to return to work after a career break of 10 years as my husbands carer. I studied and obtained my NLP Practitioner certificate, and became fascinated by the programs we run in our lives. Some of these are useful – for example cleaning our teeth, getting the children to school, arriving at work on time. But the less than helpful programs can prevent progress by sabotaging our ability to achieve our dreams, resulting in negative feelings and behaviours. Since becoming a Life Coach, I have also become a member of the Association for NLP and the Association for Coaching to support my development, ensuring I can continue to help my clients achieve their full potential.
I also attended a Mindfulness course that enabled me to relearn how to relax and find peace after my husband’s illness, and gave me a new perspective on our new family life. I frequently incorporate mindfulness relaxation into my client sessions when appropriate.
