Its all a matter of ABC and feeling the fear and doing it anyway!
Whilst writing a talk recently for Women in Business on the GROW model and goal setting, I realised that all of my work as a coach and trainer revolves around three words; awareness, belief and choice. And so ‘A B C’ was born, and I found myself reaching for my favorite (well used) copy of ‘Feel the Fear and do it anyway’ by Susan Jeffers for further inspiration.
I adore this book. It is divided into easy chapters so you can read it from cover to cover, or just as easily dip in and out. It makes complete sense to me, and every time I pick it up my positivity soars – a true anchor if ever there was one.
On this occasion, I was drawn to chapter 9, ‘Just Nod your Head – Say Yes!’ Susan explains that by saying ‘Yes!’ we agree to what life hands us, and it means we let go of resistance, and let in possibilities instead. Saying ‘no’ however means we block, fight and resist opportunities for growth and challenge. I can certainly relate to this.
I was reminded recently that when I allow myself to be in a state of flow, with love and compassion, my life is easier. Attending Melody Savage’s ‘Manifesting Miracles’ course taught me how to recognise this state of flow, and I am truly grateful to Melody for her wisdom and discernment. ‘Totally awesome’ as she would say!
As I delve into ‘A B C’ further, I’m going to share further insights with you. By relating this to the change work I facilitate with my clients, it highlights to me how these three little words can have a HUGE impact on how we tackle all that life gives us.
Awareness ‘Create awareness that you can choose to say yes or no’ Susan Jeffers.
Be curious and conscious of your decisions, and the lessons you have learnt. How can you utilise them? What have you achieved? Recognise how far you have come – you are amazing! Trusting yourself will bring peace from all the internal chatter.
Belief ‘If there’s a will there’s a way’ proverb.
What you believe about yourself and your world will determine your level of success in everything you do. Believe in yourself and your intention to achieve – and you will succeed in whatever you put your mind to. By believing you are loved and that you deserve to have the life you desire, it will happen.
Choice ‘Choose to ignore your internal terrorists’ Robert Dilts.
Give yourself permission to go for it. Get out of your own way, and acknowledge you are remarkable. Adopt patience in all that you do, and you will reach your destination eventually.
The pathway may change direction many times along the way but that’s part of the fun isn’t it?!
